Solitaire by Alice Oseman
Book Description: In case you’re wondering, this is not a love story...
My name is Tori Spring. I like to sleep and I like to blog. Last year – before all that stuff with Charlie and before I had to face the harsh realities of A-Levels and university applications and the fact that one day I really will have to start talking to people – I had friends. Things were very different, I guess, but that’s all over now.
Now there’s Solitaire. And Michael Holden. I don’t know what Solitaire are trying to do, and I don’t care about Michael Holden.
I really don’t.

Book Review:
I've been a fan of Alice Oseman since I was younger, I've read her graphic novel Heartstopper, so it was nice to read her novel which gives more insight into characters that are more in the background of her graphic novels. This book follows Tori Spring, who is an introvert and a pessimist, who I feel is a change of pace from how most main characters are written.
Tori Spring is so relatable, in the way she acts, especially as an introvert. She's a very complicated person, which I appreciate because it's easy for authors to try and write an angsty teenager, but never give a relatable or understandable reasoning for why. I feel like Alice did a great job bringing Tori Spring's character to life through the novel. However, at times, it was difficult to understand what was happening because Tori likes to pretend she's in certain situations even when she's not, and it was hard to distinguish when these scenes were occurring.
Overall, I really enjoyed Solitare and would definitely recommend people to read the book along with Alice Oseman's other works.
